Italy arrived

Plenty of leg room on the flight but the seat didn't go back very much. (Either mine was broken or the guy behind me was an ass...lol. ) didn't sleep at all and my back was wrecked by the time I got off the plane not lumbar, but a mid-back --  so likely a pulled long muscle, so I could not carry the two heavy bags through customs and long walks from gate etc so I asked for help at Rome airport.  I got help. It was slow but I wasn't in a hurry. Very nice "boys" mostly but not exclusively young men, looking after people with disabilities, at the airport. British people were extremely impatient and just complaining about Italians and how they do things ...  I was getting help, though was slow coming, I appreciated it and wasn't in a big hurry.

Turns out the direct train to Florence from the Rome airport doesn't exist anymore so I had to take two trains one into Rome termini, and when then on Florence. There does not seem to be any help for the train and I piled everything on the suitcase and broker wheel from the weight, but I had I could not carry the bags. but I did manage to get both trains and Liam met me on the platform in Florence and carried the bags out to a cab to get the cab home period was the first time I used the the stool that I brought for the lineup for taxis

Got to Liam's, enthusiastic welcome from the kids... When they got home from school. Great bed, up with back and leg cramps in the night... But had something near 8 hours, just broken into 3 shifts...

Kids got dressed and raced off to catch a school bus...
Tasha dropped me at the airport!
Just a Truscan villa from the train.

Old lady goes on European trip Oct '26

day 2. figuring out buses. explored the neighbourhood with Jess.. . coffee again at Valanni, decaf with oat milk both of which are ubiquitous now hut were hard to find 9 years ago. went to market, grocery store and to the water station. it dispenses both still and sparkling water at a public machine at an entrance to a park. tap water is safe do partly I guess for those using the park. in the summer you can have a coffee or a glass of wine while your kids play on climbing structures and trampoline. There is also a merry go round but i don't think it is free . there are many outdoor gegetable vendors (markets) in many places, in addition to grocery stores...but every neighbourhood ( as this one) has a butcher,ba bakery and fruit and veg stores. many small shops. how do they do it? own the buildings? commercial rents are 4eadonable? people shop there,? larger grocery store has things like tofu and soy sauce as well as all the produce, dairy etc. but not nearly so many shelves of ultra processed food. i am not good at taking pictures!!
