day 5/6

i am living near these bells. You cannot see the church but it is "look for the bell tower"  from anywhere nearby. Church is, like most, old, but parts were rebuilt in 1957 (I suspect including the bell tower. )
Jess ⁶has gone to France to be with her Dad. Liam, Zarah and Norah  and I went out for dinner on Friday night. This is wild boar ragu, a florence fav. I was unimpressed. Very little flavour. Could have been unspiced ground meat with noodles. You can go a bar and have aperativo (drink and snacks)but actual restaurants open at 7. Except by tourist attractions directly.

On Saturday we went to a market...but I didn't take pics to the food stalls...just people hanging ng around.
on Saturday we went to get some toys. I had promised the girls to buy them birthday presents in Italy. We got Carcassonne jr.

Old lady goes on European trip Oct '26

day 2. figuring out buses. explored the neighbourhood with Jess.. . coffee again at Valanni, decaf with oat milk both of which are ubiquitous now hut were hard to find 9 years ago. went to market, grocery store and to the water station. it dispenses both still and sparkling water at a public machine at an entrance to a park. tap water is safe do partly I guess for those using the park. in the summer you can have a coffee or a glass of wine while your kids play on climbing structures and trampoline. There is also a merry go round but i don't think it is free . there are many outdoor gegetable vendors (markets) in many places, in addition to grocery stores...but every neighbourhood ( as this one) has a butcher,ba bakery and fruit and veg stores. many small shops. how do they do it? own the buildings? commercial rents are 4eadonable? people shop there,? larger grocery store has things like tofu and soy sauce as well as all the produce, dairy etc. but not nearly so many shelves of ultra processed food. i am not good at taking pictures!!
