Met a woman and her gay son fromedmonton. His partner died this year. They are en route to Venice but then will visit florence and rome. 
She was nurse... He is a lpn student.

Then met a woman and a young woman not sure of relationshipfrom bow valley/la rouge. She worksformla used to work for mp also going to rome.

We'll see how it goes. Planing a trip for 4 weeks - Flying to Rome from Toronto, and then train to Florence to start the journey, but also its a journey to figure out how to pack from warm Italy to Scotland at the end of October.  Prep: buy 2nd carry on. Order compression bags. Selfie stick and tether. Get UK passport. Figure out how to pack lightly for three seasons. I have tickets TO Rome and RETURN from Edinburgh,  and plans to take the train north through Europe from Florence - taking in Paris,  and ending up in Scotland - but in between is serendipity.  scene from Elba last time I was in Italy. 2017.

day 2. figuring out buses. explored the neighbourhood with Jess.. . coffee again at Valanni, decaf with oat milk both of which are ubiquitous now hut were hard to find 9 years ago. went to market, grocery store and to the water station. it dispenses both still and sparkling water at a public machine at an entrance to a park. tap water is safe do partly I guess for those using the park. in the summer you can have a coffee or a glass of wine while your kids play on climbing structures and trampoline. There is also a merry go round but i don't think it is free . there are many outdoor gegetable vendors (markets) in many places, in addition to grocery stores...but every neighbourhood ( as this one) has a butcher,ba bakery and fruit and veg stores. many small shops. how do they do it? own the buildings? commercial rents are 4eadonable? people shop there,? larger grocery store has things like tofu and soy sauce as well as all the produce, dairy etc. but not nearly so many shelves of ultra processed food. i am not good at taking pictures!!
